Introducing Samuel Camden Furlough

We are so excited and blessed to share Samuel’s first days of life with you.  He came early and miraculously on June 12th at 2:38 am at 7lbs 1 oz and 20.5 inches.  There are so so many amazing details to unpack in the coming weeks.  We most literally felt your prayers for us and have enjoyed hearing all the many jokes that have come from my post last week and Samuel coming three days later.

As my moments are slim for sharing details this week, I thought instead we would post all our most precious first moments.  So many more stories to come!

Eyes wide open, Samuel has stolen our hearts. He carries in him little pieces of all of our kiddos. He has got Faith's baby nose, David's longness, Aaron's lips and head of hair, and Gideon's long baby fingernail beds. In Samuel is a compilation of all God's goodness and grace.

Leaving the hospital with Samuel was a special and emotional time for our family. The last time we took that walk it was with a big hole in our hearts. This time (though that hole is still very much present) it is with joy we leave with our brand new baby boy.

Faith is the sweetest second Mommy there is. She takes amazing care her baby Samuel and makes sure he is safe from from all bigger brother shenanigans.

Big brother David has analyzed, poked, and inquired about Samuel's every part. From his head to his toes David wants to know "What is that?" As you can imagine, these conversations are fun to say the least.

Big brother Aaron has already read Samuel all his most favorite books and religiously goes to get his "Purell" everytime before touching him.

As we adjust to life at home, we are so thankful to share many more moments with you in the weeks to come.  Samuel’s arrival was not without so many God stories and I cannot wait to tell them to you in the coming weeks!  For today, I’m prayin’ for the miracle of sleep.

  1. And now I start my day out with tears. This is so heart warming and I’m so happy for you. I can tell all your kids are so happy for him to be there! Yay! Get some good sleep!

    1. Praise God, that in our lives yes there will be tears of sorrow…but the tears of joy will come. Thank you for crying both those tears with me sweet sister!

  2. Your story reminds me of a line from a beautiful poem someone sent me after I had Jenna. “For ever loss he sends to you is followed by rich gain..” If we only trust in God he does know what He is doing even if we don’t ….I would never of had the chance to be a mama to Vincent and Jacqueline if not for Jenna’s birth and death.
I would of never had another baby 13 months later and 16 months after that. Your Guidon had something to do with this I know…..Much love to you and your new precious son (did I tell you just how handsome he is)……

    1. Kathy you are so sweet, how true your poem is. Both the losses and the richness making this life full. Our Gideon and your Jenna have produced so much fruit and blessing in our families. Thank you for being a part of our story!

  3. Maria and family,
I too am all teary now after reading this post. What a blessing! You have been faithful to give God glory and He has brought rejoicing in the morning! So happy for all of you. Love from Maryland! Love Camden…hoping it is about the MD ties. 🙂
    Love and Prayers,
    Kara
